Rationale

ORG domains, including ORG.UK, were intended to be used by voluntary and not-for-profit organisations.
Around the world and around the country many prime domain names have in the past been obtained by registrants with little connection to the name. Sometimes the domains aren't even used, they just get "parked", making them unavailable. In the worst cases, the domains are "parked", but are available - at a price! This process seems to have accelerated since the reduction in prices for UK domain registrations.

In the light of the above Skyewright decided to invest a few pounds in registering ISLE-OF-SKYE.ORG.UK to make it available for use by not-for-profit organisations based on or with strong links to the Isle of Skye. We also purchased ISLEOFSKYE.ORG.UK and make that available as a more general free links service for Skye based or related websites.

Our aim with ISLE-OF-SKYE.ORG.UK is to use the domain to collect links to appropriate not-for-profit Skye related organisations with websites.

If you know of such an organisation, please use the

site suggestion form, so that we can consider them for inclusion.

Alternatively if you know of a suitable organisation that doesn't yet have a website, get them to contact us and we might be able to offer a simple page FOC.

Finally, if any Skye based not-for-profit organisation feels they can make better use of the domain, they are welcome to contact us with their proposals.
