Introduction

This work is Freeware, which you may feel free to encounter as long as you wish, and to copy to your friends, if done so in its entirety, with all parts, including the copyright and ISBN number notice intact, as all copyright laws apply. It is copyrighted, however,1994, by Knud Mariboe, and none of them may be considered as Public Domain.

The encyclopaedia of the Celts contains all those of the historic and legendary events and persons from this neglected subject which describe the times from the very beginning and up through their Golden Age, when a Gallic army could plunder Rome, and their downfall at the hands of the mighty Roman Empire, and their later revival, especially in the Gaelic countries, such as Brittany, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Great Britain. But the Encyclopaedia goes much further than this and brings many modern authors and philosophers views and interpretations of the spiritual life of the Celts during the time, we acknowledge as their beginning up through times, and even from our own time. Thus be able to get an insight from thousands of quotes, where some is followed by comments from the editor. From this overview, you will then be able to make your own interpretations of the history, myths and legends.

I hope you will enjoy a travel into the exciting world of our ancestors, the Celts, by this encyclopaedia. I did enjoy every eighteen months it took me to compile and edit the material.

Knud Mariboe, 8 March 1995.

Sadly, Knud passed away on January 6, 1998.

The Encyclopedia is now in the guardianship of:
